Over the past three school years, Carondelet has partnered with Joffe Emergency Services and local law enforcement to strengthen campus safety through enhanced access control, updated emergency procedures, improved emergency communications, and expanded safety training.
As the next step in this ongoing effort, we will implement controlled campus access during the school day beginning on the first day of school for the 2026–27 school year. These changes are not in response to a specific incident, but rather part of our commitment to proactive safety planning and continuous improvement.
What to Expect Regarding Front Gate Procedures
- The front gate will remain open during morning arrival.
- The gate will close approximately 20 minutes after the first bell (around 8:35 AM on regular schedule days and 9:50 AM on late-start days).
- During the school day, the gate will remain closed and staffed by a campus employee.
-
Once the gate is closed, all visitors, including parents and guardians, will be required to check in before entering campus and should be prepared to present a valid photo ID.
- Visitor identification will be processed through our Raptor Visitor Management System as part of our visitor screening procedures.
- The gate will reopen approximately 20 minutes before dismissal. Specific reopening times will vary based on the daily schedule.
Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures
We strongly encourage families to wait approximately 15 minutes after dismissal before arriving on campus to pick up your student. This buffer helps reduce congestion on Treat Boulevard and surrounding streets, allows student drivers to safely exit campus, and improves overall traffic flow and safety.
It also gives students time to visit lockers, connect with teachers, gather materials, and socialize with friends before heading home.
Thank You for Your Partnership
These changes are intended to help us maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming campus while minimizing disruptions to students and families. We appreciate your support and cooperation as we implement these important safety enhancements.
