These changes are not in response to a specific incident, but rather part of our commitment to proactive safety planning and continuous improvement.
When will the front gate be closed?
The front gate will:
- Remain open during morning arrival

Close approximately 20 minutes after the first bell
- Around 8:35 AM on regular schedule days
- Around 9:50 AM on late-start days

Reopen approximately 20 minutes before end-of-day dismissal
- During 7th period on 0-7 and A Days
- During 6th period on B Days
The gate will remain staffed while closed during the school day.
Can parents and guardians still come on campus?
Yes. Parents and guardians remain welcome on campus. During school hours, visitors will be asked to check in with the campus safety monitor before entering campus.
Will I need to show identification?
Yes. All visitors should be prepared to present a valid government-issued photo ID before entering campus during school hours. Visitor information will be processed through the Raptor Visitor Management System, which helps us verify visitor identities and maintain a secure campus environment.
Raptor is widely used in schools across the country and is an important component of our overall campus safety program.
What if I forget my photo ID?
Visitors should plan to bring a valid photo ID when visiting campus during school hours.
If identification is not available, school personnel will work with visitors on a case-by-case basis to determine appropriate next steps. Please note that access to campus may be delayed while identity and the purpose of the visit are verified.
What if I need to pick up my student during the school day?
If your student needs to leave campus before the end of the school day, please contact the Attendance Office by phone or email in advance whenever possible.
When you arrive on campus, check in with the campus safety monitor at the front entrance and park in the designated parking space immediately to the left to wait for your student.
Advance notice helps minimize classroom disruptions and ensures your student is ready when you arrive.
What if my student arrives late?
Students arriving after the gate has closed should enter through the front entrance and immediately proceed to the Attendance Office.
What if I need to drop off a forgotten item?
To support our controlled campus access procedures, we encourage families to limit non-essential visits to campus during the school day whenever possible.
However, we understand that forgotten lunches, school materials, athletic equipment, instruments, and other important items occasionally need to be delivered. These items may be dropped off at the front entrance during school hours.
Please check in with the campus safety monitor, who will either collect the item(s) or direct you to the appropriate drop-off location.
How will afternoon pick-up work?
The gate will reopen 20 minutes before dismissal to accommodate students who require immediate pick-up.
However, families are strongly encouraged to wait approximately 15 minutes after dismissal before arriving on campus.
This helps:
- Reduce congestion on Treat Boulevard and surrounding streets
- Allow student drivers to safely exit campus
- Improve traffic flow and overall safety
When visiting campus or picking up in the afternoons, can I park in any open parking space?
Visitors should use designated visitor parking areas during the morning and early afternoon.
After 1:00 PM, visitors may park in any available parking space, including numbered spaces assigned to students and employees. By that point in the school day, attendance has been confirmed and unused spaces can be made available to visitors.
Please do not:
- Queue in the parking lot
- Idle in traffic lanes
- Block parking spaces
- Stop or wait on Winton Drive or Arkell Road
Will these procedures affect athletic events, performances, or evening activities?
No. These procedures apply during the instructional day. Event-specific access procedures will continue to be communicated as needed for athletic events, performances, and other campus activities.
What if I have a meeting on campus during the school day?
Visitors attending meetings, volunteering, or conducting school business should check in with the campus safety monitor upon arrival and be prepared to present a photo ID.
