At Carondelet, technology supports our mission by providing students, faculty, and staff with the tools to explore, collaborate, and create.
Our Educational Technology office empowers faculty and staff to be educational leaders and our students to be tech-savvy, discerning, and compassionate young women.
Our time-tested 1:1 Device Program requires students to bring their iPads to class, supporting digital textbooks, note-taking, and Schoology access. Carondelet-issued iPads are essential academic tools intended for school use. Students are expected to bring their fully charged iPad to school every day for all four years.
iPad & Textbook Policies
Welcome to Carondelet High School! We are excited to partner with you and your daughter on this great adventure. We are pleased to provide you with more information about our iPad and textbook program. Incoming 9th-grade students and incoming transfer students pay a one-time tech fee.
The tech fee charged does not cover the actual costs of what students receive. The program is subsidized by Carondelet because the tech fee covers the cost of student iPad, Apple Pencil (1st Generation), various iPad applications, textbooks, and class-required subscriptions and platforms. The iPad device program is an integral part of our digital textbook program and it is important for us to ensure that all students are able to access the learning tools they need. This program further allows families to push off the need to equip their daughter with a laptop as they get older and enter courses that mirror the college experience.
Program logistics and family’s responsibilities
Students will receive their iPad and case at their spring Math placement test.
For Fall 2025 - incoming students will be issued a brand new iPad, protective keyboard case & Apple Pencil
The iPad remains school property while the student is enrolled; a lease contract must be signed.
Carondelet provides tech support only for school-issued devices.
Apple Pencils will be distributed at Orientation in August.
Exceptions will be made for students participating in academic courses at Carondelet during the summer
Students will receive training during Orientation and optional summer tech sessions.
If you have questions about the iPad program, please feel free to email me. I look forward to an exciting year.
School-issued iPads remain the property of Carondelet until the student graduates (or withdraws), at which point ownership transfers to the student. These devices serve as essential organizational and learning tools, providing:
Access to textbooks, online learning platforms, and Schoology
Organizational and study support (email, note-taking apps, calendar management, and learning tools)
Content creation options (video production, document creation, and online research)
Testing purposes: All College Board, Standardized, as well as classroom assessments requiring lockdown browser features.
Students pay a one-time tech fee that covers the iPad, Apple Pencil, iPad case, apps, textbooks, and classroom subscriptions upon entry to Carondelet.
Students will receive e-texts, access to digital platforms, and some print novels. During the summer, we will be emailing your daughter with information and instructions to gain access to her resources. If there are any issues, your student should see Ms. Koski in the Library.
’27 students transferring into Carondelet should follow the policy for incoming ’28 students.
Freshmen and Sophomores must exclusively use their school-issued iPads unless they have written accommodations from the Academic and Learning Support Department. If they are enrolled in a class that requires the use of a laptop (eg AP Comp Sci), students can bring a laptop for that class only.
iPads are not intended for personal entertainment, such as gaming or serving as a duplicate cell phone.
While students are enrolled at Carondelet, the school will apply restrictions and security measures to ensure the device is used for educational purposes.
For Carondelet-managed devices, system administrators have access to:
Installed apps and programs
Device location while on campus
URLs of websites visited while on campus
The school cannot access personal files, photos, or other private data on registered devices. Information is not archived or used to build personal profiles. While the system has the capability to remotely clear a device, Carondelet would only utilize this feature in specific circumstances where it was warranted, with appropriate Administrator approval.
Students must use the case provided to protect the iPad.
