Karina grew up speaking Spanish with her mother who is from Nicaragua and Chile. She pursued an education in Spanish and Latin American Studies with a concentration in Peace and Conflict Resolution from UC Berkeley, where she also studied Portuguese.
Karina has been at Carondelet for 11 years and has taught various levels of Spanish and also was a part of the CHS Swim team coaching staff in past years.
Karina is inspired by the energy and excitement that students bring to the classroom and she enjoys imparting knowledge about language and culture from her studies and various travels. Karina aspires to be a facilitator in students’ capacity to be cultural ambassadors through empathy, compassion, and language study.
Karina enjoys outdoor activities, triathlons, Spartan races, running, cooking, baking, and knitting. She travels whenever she has the chance to be able to explore and share travel stories with students.
