French 1

The course is designed to develop all 4 communicative skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking using a comprehensible input-based curriculum that exposes students to copious amounts of spoken and written French. Through stories, real-world authentic texts, and audio-video, vibrant cultural images of products, practices, and perspectives students build their language and cultural proficiency.

The majority of assessments are short quizzes designed to measure proficiency in listening, reading, and eventually writing and speaking. A goal of this course is that by the end of the year students will be able to write hundreds of words in French without hesitation.
