Students will be introduced to the field of sports medicine with an emphasis in athletic training. The student will develop knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and anatomical terminology. Current techniques in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries will be discussed. Specific topics include emergency care and procedures, injury identification, first aid, concussions, and referral and transportation of injured athletes. Students will also learn preventative taping techniques.
Note: This course does not fulfill the Health requirement for Kinesiology.
