This class is designed to help students prepare for and take on the challenges of high school. The course is designed to help students build a toolbox of of strategies and habits of the mind to improve their learning effectiveness, attitudes, and motivation. The following are part of the curriculum: time management, concentration, note taking skills, textbook study methods, test taking strategies, and critical thinking skills. The course will further focus on identified gaps of learning specific to reading comprehension and math.
For students who are identified on entry as needing extra time to develop their academic level. This class would be taken in place of Conceptual Physics or Modern Language based on HSPT scores and transcript review. The course that is replaced will be taken in Sophomore year.
