Photo & Film is an introductory course that explores the visual language of photography and film. Students will create and critique a variety of digital media as they develop familiarity with equipment, materials, methods, and processes used in digital production. The course emphasizes understanding the meaning behind design and stylistic choices, as well as studying the history, techniques, and conventions of the film industry across genres. Through hands-on projects and real-world examples, students will engage with the world of cinema through editing, creation, analysis, and presentation.
As a creation course, students are required to complete and submit an original film to the Carondelet Film Fest and attend the event. The Film Fest serves as the culminating public showcase of student work, providing an authentic audience for creative risk-taking and an opportunity to celebrate the artistic voices of our community.
