The Advanced Placement 2-D Studio Art course is designed for highly motivated students who are committed to the creation and study of art. Design involves purposeful decision-making about how to use the elements and principles of art in an integrative way. The 2-D portfolio is intended to address a very broad interpretation of design issues. Students are asked to demonstrate proficiency in 2-D design using a variety of forms. These could include, but are not limited to, graphic design, typography, digital imaging, photography, collage, fabric design, weaving, illustration, painting, printmaking, etc. Students are expected to submit a portfolio for the Advanced Placement exam.
Note: students are required to start their portfolio by completing three projects over the summer. See the AP instructor for the assignments.
Carondelet students should have TMS, DLS should have Fundamentals, and then all should have one year of a VA class before seeking instructor approval to take this course.
