Advocating for Youth Mental Health

Anna Buss ’15 is helps others through her work in college as a student community facilitator, a volunteer for the homeless and her next step, graduate school in Education & Counseling.
Anna Buss ’15
After graduating from Carondelet I attended Santa Clara University. I am very active in college,  serving as an executive member on a leadership council, working as a community facilitator (RA equivalent), and served for two years on the Justice Starts Here committee (works to educate students on issues of social justice).
I was the president of an Organization called ‘Vinnies’ which helps serve the underserved homeless community in San Jose by making sandwiches and delivering them to local parks.
I am an Assistant Resident Director in some of the residential learning communities. In that role I help students get involved and discern who they are as individuals, I also work with the ideas of mental health, wellness, sustainability, and social justice on a daily basis.
I will be attending Santa Clara’s Graduate School for Education and Counseling in the fall and pursuing a license in Marriage and Family Therapy. My emphasis in my program is that of Corrections, this emphasis has inspired me to want to work with young adult clientele who have undergone trauma.
I am very grateful for Carondelet and for what it taught me about my own ability to make an impact on my community and I have taken those lessons with me since I have left. How we can each be a symbol of grace in a world that often has too much gravity.
I was lucky to visit Carondelet a few times after I graduated and hope to visit again soon!
