Nine Student-Athletes Sign Commitments Fall 2024

Headed to Boston College, Cal Poly, University of Mississippi, University of Pennsylvania, Rider University, Saint Michael’s College, UC Davis, University of Idaho, and Vanderbilt University

CONCORD, CA, November 13, 2024 at 1:30 PM PDT—Carondelet High School announced that nine Cougar student-athletes signed commitments today to continue their athletic career in college.

Ellie Butler will dive into the next chapter of her swimming career at Vanderbilt University as a Commodore. Ellie’s honors include Winter Junior National Champion and B-Finalist in 200 Fly, Individual All American in the 100 fly and 200 freestyle, 6x All American for Carondelet Relays, 2x CIF State A-Finalist, NCS 2024 Individual Champion (100 fly), and EBAL 2024 Individual Champion (100 fly/200 free). She chose Vanderbilt because of its exceptional balance of academic excellence and athletic opportunity. They have a supportive coaching staff and a close team culture, and it was an amazing opportunity to compete at a high level while pursuing her studies in Nashville! Congratulations, Ellie, and go Commodores!

Abigail Cheun chose Rider University to continue her lacrosse career as a Bronc. Abigail’s accolades include being on the varsity team since freshman year, team captain in 2024, New Balance All-American, and Nike American Select - West. She chose Rider because she wants to play D1 lacrosse along with studying pre-med, and the amazing coach supports both her athletic and academic careers. She also wanted to experience playing lacrosse at a competitive level on the East Coast. Congratulations, Abigail, and go Broncs!

Jessica Drobick is ready to reach new heights in her gymnastics career at the University of Pennsylvania as a Quaker. Jessica is a 3-year team captain at San Mateo Gymnastics, 2024 San Mateo Gymnastics MVP, 2024 Level 10 USA Gymnastics National Qualifier, 2024 NorCal State Bronze Medalist on Vault and All-Around, and 2022 and 2023 NorCal State Floor Champion. Jessica chose Penn because of the incredible opportunities it offers for both her academic and athletic pursuits. The supportive environment for student-athletes and the chance to compete at a high level in gymnastics were significant factors in her decision. She is excited to be part of a community that values both her education and her passion for the sport. She looks forward to growing as a student and an athlete and is excited to see what the future holds! Congratulations, Jessica, and go Quakers!

Bella Ehrlich is continuing her volleyball career at Boston College as an Eagle. Bella’s honors include team captain junior and senior year, EBAL first team, and lead league in total blocks. She chose Boston College because of the competitive academic and athletic environment as well as the ideal location. The Jesuit focus on courage and strong community will make the campus feel like home. Congratulations, Bella, and go Eagles!

 

Miranda Goldner will embark on the next chapter of her soccer career at the University of Idaho as a Vandal. Miranda plays soccer in the DA and ECNL Clubs, was on the Presidents list, and CIF Scholar-athlete all four years, participated in nationals with her Mustang Soccer Club every year, and participated in NorCal PDP (Player Development Academy). She chose the University of Idaho because it offers an extremely welcoming environment both in the campus community and the soccer program. She fell in love with the soccer team’s amazing chemistry and the competitive culture, which she is thrilled to be a part of. Academically, it meets all of her needs and provides extensive support for her personal career goals. The campus is beautiful, and she cannot wait to attend UOI. Congratulations, Miranda, and go Vandals!

Lillie King chose to continue her volleyball career at Saint Michael’s College as a Purple Knight. Lillie’s honors include varsity team captain and team captain of her club volleyball team. She also leads her club team in middle attack kills and blocks. Lillie chose St. Mike’s because of its strong sense of community and commitment to academic excellence. She is excited to make an impact on this team and create new bonds with her teammates. Congratulations, Lillie, and go Purple Knights!

Katie Lakin is ready to bring her soccer talent to the University of Mississippi as a Rebel. Katie’s athletic accolades include: GA Northwest Talent ID roster 3x, GA National Talent ID roster 2x, ECNL Player to Watch 23’/24’, 2024 ECNL U17 FC Bay Area Surf League Champions, Prep Soccer Ranked Player, Top Drawer Soccer 3 Star Rated Player, and Top Drawer Top 150 players list from 2019-2023. She chose to continue her athletic and academic career at Ole Miss because they gave her the opportunity to play in the SEC and in a Power Four Conference, which has been her dream since she was little. From the first time she visited Ole Miss she felt at home and it was somewhere she could grow as a student and athlete. Congratulations, Katie, and go Rebels!

Maia Scholtens is continuing her softball career at the University of California, Davis as an Aggie. Maia is a MVP, 3x first team, 1x second team, and has the strikeout record in EBAL. Maia chose UC Davis for the amazing education and high-level athletics. Both of her parents went there, and they have always spoken so highly of their collegiate experience. Maia loves the campus; it’s beautiful and feels like home. The strong sense of community and supportive environment make it the perfect place for her to excel both academically and athletically. Congratulations, Maia, and go Aggies!

Samantha Walker is ready to continue her soccer career at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Samantha’s accolades include: freshman year - JV offensive MVP; sophomore year - varsity, EBAL, and NCS champions; junior year - varsity, EBAL first team; Mustang Soccer Club team captain for five years, ECNL all conference first team 2022-23 season and 2023-24 season; and selected to play on the Player Development Program (PDP) team. Samantha chose Cal Poly, SLO because Cal Poly is one of the best state schools in the country and has an excellent soccer program. Cal Poly is also close to home, has great weather, and a fun student life. Congratulations, Samantha, and go Mustangs!
