Water Polo Defeats Bishop O'Dowd 8-0 to Advance to NCS Semifinals

Cougars play Alameda in NCS Semifinals on Wednesday

Concord, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2017) – In the second round of the 2017 NCS/Les Schwab Tires Division II Girls' Water Polo Championship, the top-seeded Carondelet varsity water polo team posted an 8-0 victory over Bishop O'Dowd on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the De La Salle pool.

Carondelet scored a goal in each of the first two quarters, one by Madi Ohrman and Kiki Mein, to hold a 2-0 halftime lead. In the second half, the Cougars put on more offensive pressure, scoring three goals in both the third and fourth quarters. Ohrman added a goal in the third quarter, while Mein had a goal in third and fourth quarters.

The Cougars defense and goalkeeper Alex Brown held the Dragons scoreless over the 28-minute contest, to post the team's third shutout of the season.

With the win over Bishop O'Dowd, the Cougars advance to the semifinals of the 2017 NCS/Les Schwab Tires Division II Girls' Water Polo Championship. In the third round, No. 1 Carondelet will take on No. 4 Alameda, which beat Justin-Siena, 10-9 on Saturday. The game between Carondelet and Alameda is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7:15 pm at Northgate High School.

Ticket prices for the game are $10 for adults and $6 for students with a valid ID, seniors, and children 12 and under.
