Volleyball Defeats West Valley, 3-1, in Second Round of CIF State Playoffs

Cougars to host Colfax HS on Tuesday in Third Round of CIF State Championships

Cottonwood, Calif. (Nov. 20, 2017) – Sixth-seeded Carondelet posted a 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 27-25, 25-18) victory at third-seeded West Valley High School on Saturday night in the second round of the CIF State Division IV Girls Volleyball Championships.

The Cougars fell behind early, dropping the first set, 22-25 to the host Eagles. From there, Carondelet would win the second set, 25-18, before edging out West Valley, 27-25, in the first set, taking a 2-1 lead in the match. With the Cougars up a set, Carondelet won the fourth set by seven points (25-18), to win the match, advancing to the third round of the tournament.

For its third round CIF State Division IV Girls Volleyball Championship game, the Cougars will host Colfax High School at 7 pm at the Carondelet Gym. The winner of the game will advance to the CIF NorCal Division IV Finals to play either No. 1 Presentation or No. 12 San Francisco Waldorf. On Saturday, Nov. 25.

In the opening round of the CIF State Championships, Carondelet defeated Capital Christian in straight sets. The win over Capital Christian marked the first state playoff win for Carondelet since the 2004 season.

Ticket prices for the third round CIF State Division IV Volleyball Championship games are $9.00 for general admission and $5.00 for senior, children, and students, with a valid student body card.
