The Carondelet varsity soccer team had an impressive showing at the Madera Showcase on Friday and Saturday, December 8-9. The Cougars posted a 2-0 record in the showcase, with wins over Clovis and Clovis West.
Carondelet had three wins last week, and have now won four straight games to improve to 4-1 this season. The Cougars opened the week with a 6-1 win at Alhambra on Monday, before defeating Clovis (5-0) on Friday, and Clovis West (2-0) on Saturday.
In the victory over Alhambra, senior forward Cassidy Tshimbalanga scored half the Cougars' goals, while dishing out one assist for seven points in the game. Tshimbalanga continued her outstanding play into the Madera Showcase, where she had two goals and an assist against Clovis. Fellow senior Devin Lozano matched Tshimbalanga's scoring output, while freshman Jordyn Young scored her second goal of the season.
Tshimbalanga added an assist in Carondelet's 2-0 victory over Clovis West, while Ella Collier and newcomer Kiera Mullin tallied goals for the Cougars.
Carondelet is currently on a four-game win streak, outscoring its opponents 20-1 during the stretch. Goalkeepers Angie Anderson and Hannah Macaulay have combined for three shutouts in the last four games, posting a combined 24 saves and a 0.25 goals against average in the last four contests.
The Cougars will look to continue their win streak with their East Bay Athletic League opener on Tuesday at Dougherty Valley. The week continues on Thursday with a home game against Monte Vista, and wraps up with a non-league game at Christian Brothers on Saturday.
