Varsity soccer red hot in Texas

Carondelet varsity soccer went 2-0-1 in the National Elite Prep Showcase, a Texas tournament that features the top high school women's soccer teams from around the country and a true showcase for college soccer.

It may have been a cold night in Texas for game one, but our Cougars stayed red hot as Ellie Ospeck (2 goals) and Angelina Scoma (1 assist) and Katherine Buckley (1 assist) helped the Cougars blank FW Marcus 2-0. In a game two contest against Texas power, Ursuline, the Cougars stayed strong and brought the game to a 0-0 stalemate that relied on strong defense. Going into game three, the Cougars had not let up a goal and that continued after a 3-0 win against St. Thomas Acquinas of Florida. Game three featured goals from Jordyn young (2 goals) and Annalise Giusto (1 goal) to help lead the Cougar offense. Ellie Ospeck (2 assists) and Kiera Mullin (1 assist) delivered as well.

Our Cougars outscored their opponents 5-0 over the course of three games as the Cougar defense continued its prowess on the pitch this season and an undefeated 6-0-4 mark. Coach Amy Apodaca said, "In 9 games over the past 3 years in Texas, Carondelet has not lost a game. I am proud to have these spectacular young women representing Carondelet and what our school stands for. They are humble, hard working, outstanding athletes and young women."
