Cougars Post Fifth Place Finish in 4x100 Relay at State Meet
Clovis, Calif. (June 5, 2017) - The Carondelet track and field team sent six student-athletes to last weekend's CIF State Track and Field Championships at Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif. The Cougars qualified for five events at this year's CIF State Track and Field Championships, and advanced to the finals in one event, the 4x100 meter relay.
Carondelet's 4x100 meter relay team of Mikayla Scott, Mia Avila, Aryel Coats and Hanna Coloma posted a fifth place finish, running the finals in a time of 47.12. It was the fastest time of the season for the Cougars' 4x100 meter relay team.
Mikayla Scott also qualified for the state meet in both the 100 and 200-meter dash events, and finish 10th in both events. In the 100-meter race she ran a time of 11.81, missing the finals by just .03 seconds. In the 200-meter preliminaries she crossed the finish line in a time of 24.18, to miss the finals by .18 seconds.
Freshman pole vaulter Kelly Kern also qualified for the state meet and finished 15th overall. In the preliminaries, she cleared the bar at 11'6" and 12'0", but missed on all three attempts at 12'6".
Carondelet also qualified for the 4x400 meter relay, and finished 11th overall with a time of 3:52.44 in the preliminaries. The Carondelet 4x400 meter relay team of Mikayla Scott, Keeley Murphy, Mia Avila and Hanna Coloma missed the finals by 1.10 seconds. The time of 3:52.44 was the fastest time of the season for the Cougars' 4x400 meter relay team.
