The Cougars Swimming and Diving Team had a great NCS Championship meet at Concord pool on May 3-5th, 2019. The team came in 3rd place overall! It was great to see Carondelet back on the podium for the Top 3 teams in the North Coast Section.
The Cougar divers got us off to fantastic start with a 1st, 3rd, and 8th place finishes by Courtney Klausen, Kate Cilley, and Olivia Cunningham, respectively.
Courtney Klausen's score set the all-time record
for an NCS Championship, a historic accomplishment. Kate's score was just 20 points shy of the first runner-up and was the 12th highest in NCS history.
The swim portion of the meet began with our All-American Medley Relay team of Jessica Davis, Emma Sullivan, Sarah Hamilton, and Christy Neufeld taking 6th place overall.
The individual scoring was led by Senior Christy Neufeld who came in 4th place in the 200 Freestyle and 3rd place in the 500 Freestyle. Both times were new All-American time standards.
Jessica Davis was not far behind in points with a 7th place in the 100 Freestyle and 3rd place in the 100 Backstroke. Jessica's 100 Backstroke was an All-American time standard.
The team also got a nice contribution with a 13th place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay from the quartet of: Emily Hamilton, Shaila Santos, Sarah Deback, and Jenna Ravarino.
Finally, our 400 Freestyle Relay team (Jessica Davis, Sarah Hamilton, Emma Sullivan, and Christy Neufeld) wrapped up the action with a 6th place finish.
Way to go ladies, keep climbing up that mountain. Go Cougars!
