New Faculty and Staff 2017-18

Carondelet extends a warm welcome to all of the new faculty and staff who have joined us recently. These dynamic individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their respective roles and they will, no doubt, bring a renewed sense of excitement and commitment to excellence to our school. Please join us in welcoming these new additions to our team!

Nadine Amarelo, Faculty – Modern Language (French)

Ms. Amarelo most recently taught at Clayton Valley High School. She is also a Parent Association/Trustee at Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley, and has taught French at Fallon Middle School and Skyline High School. She holds a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley, and earned her teaching credential from CSU East Bay.

Adam Chaffey, Faculty - Religious Studies
Mr. Chaffey comes to us from St. Joseph Notre Dame in Alameda, where he taught Theology, and he served as a Youth Ministry Coordinator at St. Joseph Basilica. He earned his M.A. in Theology from University of Newcastle and his B.A. in Music from University of Sydney.

Ashley Clemens, Assistant Director of Enrollment
Ms. Clemens most recently served as an Educational Advisor at UC Berkeley, and was previously a Senior Manager for Relay for Life at the American Cancer Society. She holds a B.A. in Organizational Communication from CSU Chico. In her new role, she will assist in all aspects of the admissions and enrollment process.

Miranda Cozzone '06, Faculty - Religious Studies
Ms. Cozzone comes to us from St. Patrick/St. Vincent High School in Vallejo, where she was a Theology teacher. She also has served as Director of Youth Ministry at St. Bonaventure Catholic Community and Director of Youth Ministry at St. Monica Catholic Church. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from Saint Mary's College of California.

Lizette Dolan, VP for Mission and Community Development
Dr. Dolan joins us from Park Day School in Oakland, where she served as the head of middle school. She has also served as an administrator at The Athenian School and a teacher and administrator at St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco. She holds a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley, an M.A. from Harvard University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Mary's College. In her new role, Dr. Dolan will be responsible for promoting, coordinating and administering a mission-centered philosophy for the school, and she will oversee Campus Ministry, Personal Counseling and Student Activities.

Jamie Frick '08, Advancement Assistant
An alumna of Carondelet, Ms. Frick has returned to campus to provide executive support to the Chief Advancement Officer, assisting with activities related to gift campaigns, development services, marketing communications, and special events. She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from CSU Sonoma, and has previously worked Levy Restaurants at Oracle Arena and Dry Creek Vineyard.

Jimmy Goga, Director of I.T. Operations
Mr. Goga comes to us from Portable CIO, Inc., where he served as Director of Operations and Security. He also has worked as the Director of Information and Technology at Mt. Diablo Region YMCA. In his new role, Mr. Goga will ensure the smooth functioning of all educational, business and operational technology needs at Carondelet. He holds a B.A. in Cinema from San Francisco State University.

Amanda Jain, Faculty - Math
Ms. Jain most recently taught math at The Bentley School and Moses Brown School. She was an instrumental member of the team that published the National Lung Screening Trial, which revolutionized the way we screen for lung cancer. Ms. Jain holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Sociology from Colby College and a Master's in Public Health from Brown University.

Ginger Jessop, College & Career Counselor
Ms. Jessop comes to us from Acalanes High School, where she was a College and Career Advisor. She has also worked as an Undergraduate Admissions officer and Recruiter at UCLA. She holds a B.A. in History from UCLA.

Kristina Levesque '06, Faculty – Math
Ms. Levesque recently served as the Math Teacher & Math Curriculum Coordinator at St. Mary Elementary School in Walnut Creek. She has also been a Corps Member at Teach for America. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from University of San Diego, and earned a Master's in Education from Lipscomb University.

Colleen Lim, College & Career Counselor
Ms. Lim has served as an undergraduate admissions representative at UC Berkeley and an Associate Dean and Director of Admission at Stanford University. She has also previously served on the NCAA D1 Women's Volleyball Committee, D1 championship and Competition Cabinet, D1 Soccer Committee Chair, D1 Field Hockey Committee Chair, and she coordinated the Youth Education through Sports clinics held in conjunction with the NCAA Championship events. She holds a B.A. in Physical Education from U.C. Berkeley and a Master's in Education from Stanford University.

Dave Macmillan, Chief Advancement Officer
Mr. Macmillan enjoyed a 26-year career at the University of San Francisco, where he served as Vice President for University Advancement for 21 years before becoming the school's Vice President for Marketing Communications. In these roles, Macmillan planned and directed two highly successful comprehensive campaigns and led initiatives to raise USF's visibility, redesign its website and enhance its visual identity. Macmillan earned his Bachelor's degree from Wheaton College in Illinois and his Master's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Martina Miller, Faculty - Religious Studies
Ms. Miller recently served as the Director of Campus Ministry & Religious Studies teacher at Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit High School. She also has been a guest lecturer at St. Angela's College - Sligo (In Ireland), a news editor and announcer for Vatican Radio, and establish online educational exchange program with secondary school students in Vietnam. She earned a B.A. in Communications from Saint Mary's College, and holds a Master's in Theology from University of San Francisco.

Bryan Navarro, Director of Graphic Design and Digital Media
Mr. Navarro previously served as Director of Digital Media at Saint Mary's College, where he helped further the school's overall brand and mission by curating the school's digital identity on the web, and produced videos and online content to support the school's marketing and fundraising activities. He also has extensive experience as a multimedia journalist for CBS, ABC, and FOX local affiliates. Mr. Navarro holds a B.A. in Communication with emphasis on Film/Video from Saint Mary's College.

Tara O'Siochain, Faculty - Visual and Performing Arts
Ms. O'Siochain joins Carondelet with a strong background the arts. She is a visual artist, art historian, and art educator. She has worked as an independent designer/color specialist and, most recently, worked at Professional Paint Center in Walnut Creek as an Architectural Color Consultant. Ms. O'Siochain earned her BA in Studio Art/Communications from Mills College and her Master's of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute.

Miriam "Mimi" Philips, Faculty – Science
Ms. Philips joins us from Marina High School and K-12 Fuel Education, where she taught science. During her career, she created a marine biology program, led implementation of Google projects in the district, and served as a regional science fair judge. She holds a B.S. in Medical Technology from Cal Lutheran University, and a Master's in Education Technology from Azusa Pacific University.

Sonia Roberts, Faculty - Kinesiology (Yoga)
Ms. Roberts is a local yoga instructor at Yoga Revelations and Yoga Works. As a photographer, created "Yoga Stories," a compilation of portraits and interviews of yoga students of all ages. She holds a B.A. in Social Welfare from U.C. Berkeley.

Elle Robinson, Director of Development
Ms. Robinson comes to us from the Make-a-Wish Foundation-Greater Bay Area, where she recently served as a Major Gift Officer. She has also worked as Assistant Director & Southern CA Regional Special Gift Officer for University of San Francisco. In her new role, she will conceptualize, organize and implement a comprehensive program for raising renewable annual gifts and manage the services essential to Carondelet's fundraising program. Ms. Robinson holds a B.A. in Media Studies and Communication from and a Master's in Nonprofit Administration – both from the University of San Francisco.

Siobhan Roddy, Faculty - Religious Studies
Ms. Roddy joins us from Central Catholic High School in Modesto – her alma mater – where she was a Theology teacher at Central Catholic High School and served as Campus Minister. She holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Iowa.

Kathryn "Casey" Schoeberlein, Director of Student Life and Programming
Ms. Schoeberlein recently served as Director of Programs and Curriculum at Lake Forest Academy, and was a Grade Five Level Coordinator and Middle School instructor at The Hamlin School. In her new role, she will develop and administer procedures in the areas of attendance, behavior, and serve as an advocate for students dealing with personal, emotional, medical, and academic needs. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and History from Southern Methodist University, and a Masters in Elementary Education and a Master's in Leadership and Administration.

Caroline Tsuyuki, Faculty – Science
Dr. Tsuyuki recently served as an Adjust Professor at Diablo Valley College, and was a Science Enrichment Instructor for the Lafayette School District. She has also worked as an Associate Senior Investigator at Smithkline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, working in cancer research, and was part of the team that developed the AIDS protease inhibitors currently used in HIV/AIDS therapy and in development of novel thrombolysis for treatment of heart disease. She holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from Mount Holyoke College, a Master's in Biochemistry, and a Doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Robert Underwood, Faculty – Science

Rob Underwood has been teaching art, math and science for 14 years at such places as Ruth Ozawa San Francisco School of the Arts, Oakland School for the arts and Park Day School. He spent 15 years prior to his teaching career as a graphic artist, web designer and art director. He has a BFA in Communications Design from Pratt Institute and a teaching credential from Dominican University. He is certified for Art, Biology and Earth and Planetary Sciences.
