Carondelet Wins 2017 NCS Division I Girls' Golf Championship

Cougars win second NCS Championship in last three years

Antioch, Calif. (October 30, 2017) – The Carondelet golf team posted a score of 387 (+27) to win the North Coast Section/Les Schwab Tires Division I Girls' Championship on Monday. The Cougars posted an eight-shot victory over second place Dougherty Valley at the 5,586-yard, par 72 Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch, Calif.

In route to the school's second NCS championship in three years, as all six players for Carondelet shot a score of 80 or better. Leading the Cougars, who won an NCS Championship in 2015, were senior Annika Borrelli and freshman Madelyn Gamble, who both carded 18-hole scores of 76 (+4).

Freshman Madison Wu posted a score of 77 (+5) and senior Angela Bagasbas also shot in the 70s, with a round of 78 (+6). Rounding out the Cougars scoring were junior Courtney Gaoiran and sophomore Carissa Wu with rounds of 80 (+8).

With the victory, Carondelet qualifies for next week's CIF/NCGA NorCal State Championships, which will be played at Sierra View Country Club in Roseville, Calif. The NorCal girls' golf championship will be played on Monday, Nov. 6.
