Carondelet Water Polo Season Ends In CIF NorCal Semifinals

Cougars Fall to St. Francis (Mt. View) 9-1 in CIF Semis

Sacramento, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2017) – In the semifinal round of the 2017 CIF NorCal Girls' Division II Water Polo Championships, fifth-seeded Carondelet was defeated by top-seeded St. Francis of Mountain View, 9-1 on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Rio Americano HS.

St. Francis jumped out to an early lead and held a 4-0 advantage after the first quarter. The Lancers extended their lead to 7-0 by halftime, and led 8-0 lead before Carondelet's Marissa Ennis scored the Cougars only goal of the game midway through the third quarter. St. Francis added a fourth quarter goal, for a 9-1 victory over the Cougars.

St. Francis then defeated Sanger, 7-5, to win the 2017 CIF NorCal Girls' Division II Water Polo Championship.

Carondelet finished the 2017 season with a 19-8 overall record. The Cougars finished the East Bay Athletic League campaign with a 5-3 record to finish fourth in the league standings. Then, Carondelet posted a runner-up finish in the North Coast Section Division II Championships, before its semifinal finish in the CIF NorCal Championships.
