Cougars to play St. Francis (Mt. View) on Saturday NorCal Semifinals
Visalia, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2017) – In the opening round of the 2017 CIF NorCal Girls Division II Water Polo Championships, the No. 5 Carondelet water polo team defeated No. 4 Redwood High School, 7-6, on Tuesday at Golden West High School.
Carondelet jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, before Redwood evened the score 3-3 late in the second quarter. With the score tied, Carondelet goalkeeper Alex Brown made a length-of-the-pool goal as time expired, to put the Cougars ahead 4-3 at halftime.
Redwood scored the first two goals of the second half to take its first lead of the game at 5-4, but Carondelet answered with back-to-back goals to regain the lead at 6-5, with the go-ahead goal coming from Kasey Madsen. After Redwood tied the score at 6-6 with 2:51 left on the clock, Carondelet's Madi Ohrman scored the game-winning goal with 38 seconds left in regulation.
Carondelet will play No. 1 St. Francis of Mountain View on Saturday, Nov. 18, in the semifinals of the CIF NorCal Division II Girls Water Polo Championships. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 am at Rio Americano High School.
Should the Cougars advance to the finals, the game will be played at Rio Americano HS later the same day.
Ticket prices for the semifinal and final rounds of the CIF NorCal Water Polo Championship games are $12.00 for general admission and $8.00 for seniors, children, and students, with a valid student body card.
