Basketball to Battle Heritage in NCS Finals on Friday

Cougars and Patriots to Play NCS Finals at Saint Mary's College

Following their 63-47 victory over San Ramon Valley in the North Coast Section/Les Schwab Tires Division I Girls Basketball Semifinals on Wednesday, the #1-seeded Carondelet basketball team will play #2-seed Heritage High School in the finals on Friday night at Saint Mary's College at 6 pm.

The first half of the game between Carondelet and San Ramon Valley was tightly contested, and resulted in a 25-25 tie at halftime. Leading the way for the Cougars in the first half was junior guard Erica Miller, who had nine points, all on three-pointers.

In the second half, the Cougars got a balanced scoring attack, which resulted in a 38-22 scoring advantage over the final 16 minutes. Junior center Ali Bamberger scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half, while Emily Howie added nine second-half points, to go along with eight from Tatyana Modawar and Leah Walton.

Carondelet will play Heritage in the NCS Finals for the second straight season. The Cougars defeated the Patriots 56-31, at Saint Mary's, to capture the 2017 NCS Division I Girls Basketball Championship.

The game between Carondelet and Heritage is scheduled to begin at 6 pm at McKeon Pavilion on the Saint Mary's College campus. Ticket prices for the championship game are $12 for adults, and $6 for seniors/children ages 5-13, and students with a valid high school student body ID card.
