Math Teacher and Program Proctor

Job Description:

The school is looking for a Full-Time Math teacher and Math Program Proctor for the Fall of 2021. This is a wonderful opportunity for an entry level teacher. Carondelet has a unique and ambitious self-paced math program and candidates should be comfortable with all levels of high school math. We are seeking an individual who is interested in innovative curriculum development as it relates to making learning highly relevant in today’s world.

Teachers at Carondelet are equity-focused lifelong learners with a keen interest in growing professionally in all areas. An ideal candidate is a team player who can think outside the box, is confident and capable with the use of technology in the classroom, and is familiar with using a digital learning management system. A background in innovative, collaborative teaching and learning models, authentic assessments with rubrics, and critical and creative thinking is preferred. This position includes teaching 2 classes and serving 3 periods in the Math Program facilitating testing. The candidate will work closely with the Math Program Lead and, in particular, carries out the responsibilities and duties listed below.

Administrative Responsibilities and Duties

Classroom Teacher:

  • Effectively manages instructional time and student behavior
  • Plans diverse lessons that ensure student comprehension of learning outcomes
  • Uses diverse assessments that capture student comprehension of content in a variety of ways
  • Effectively uses Schoology as an avenue for student learning
  • Records assignments in PowerSchool in a timely fashion
  • Collaborates with Department members and seeks out opportunities to partner with colleagues to implement innovative learning opportunities for students
  • Communicates with department chairs, academic support, personal counselors, students and parents in a timely fashion when students are at-risk academically or personally
  • Cooperates with appropriate personnel (eg, Deans, Attendance Officer) in enforcing school policies, rules and regulations This includes but is not limited to the following:
    • administration/dean/counselor requests for student conference (green slips)
    • faculty use of facilities
    • student absence policy
    • student appearance code
    • student tardy policy
    • participates in activities, workshops and meetings as required
  • Fulfills duties and assignments in a punctual manner this includes but is not limited to the following:
    • arrival/departure on campus and to school functions as required
    • faculty substitute procedure
    • grades and progress reports
    • notification of Main Office of departure/return during school day
    • proctor duties
    • school services
    • yard duty
  • Assists in maintaining a safe, clean and friendly campus environment
  • monitors appropriate student use of facilities
  • monitors student behavior
  • Cooperates with and supports the Administration
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal
  • Provides appropriate instruction in specified curriculum and instructional feedback
  • Effectively monitors and evaluates student performance
  • Maintains professional standards within the educational environment
  • Fulfills professional growth expectations

Math Program:

  • Each day pull tests for students testing that day. Write the student name on the test and place it in the correct period folder.
  • Proctor tests during assigned math program periods.
  • Work with the math program lead to grade tests.
  • Closely monitor testing of students (walking around ensuring no pictures of tests are being taken and nothing on student calculators, backpacks in the front of the room, student cell phones located in the cell phone pockets).
  • Track testers and coordinate with the math program lead by updating electronic spreadsheet with who tested, which test version they took, and timing (did they get extra time).
  • If no students are taking tests that period then participate in the math program, checking in with the math program lead and determining which students need extra help and providing individual support as needed.
  • Monitor files of tests and make photocopies of tests to keep files current with copies of versions 1, 2, and 3.
  • Each day file corrected student tests in corresponding student folders.
  • Update student tracking spreadsheet as students pass assessments. Alert math program lead if there are students who have skipped a topic or cumulative skills assessment.
  • Monitor Remediation
    • Email any student who does not pass an assessment within 1 day to begin the remediation process and assign Delta Math practice. Copy the lead teacher on the email.
    • Enter the student’s information (name, test taken, date test taken) on the remediation tracking spreadsheet.
    • Alert the lead teacher if one week has passed and the student has not reassessed so the lead teacher can follow up with the student.


  • Teachers should have a valid California teaching credential or an undergraduate graduate degree in Math.
  • The teacher should be open to collaboration with other teachers both within and outside of the department on curricular projects and school initiatives
  • A history of openness to creative and innovative lessons, assessment, and learning opportunities is a must
  • Experience with or openness to initiatives fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion
