This course is an introduction to dance and explores the concepts of time, space, and energy as they apply to the art form. This class exposes students to the classical techniques of modern, ballet, jazz, and musical theatre, exploring their origins and development. A comprehensive warm-up, a series of across-the-floor exercises and a variety of dance combinations are taught throughout the semester. The final project requires a student-choreographed dance presentation. Current topics that relate to dance and enhance life-long fitness will be taught. Emphasis placed on public performance.
Note: Carondelet dance pant, leotard, and appropriate dance shoes are required.
