This performance-based, co-ed class explores the origins and development of dance as it applies to the Broadway stage. Students will study a historical overview of the genre with specific emphasis placed on the works of American choreographers, including Jerome Robbins and Bob Fosse. Character development is integrated into the movement component of the class. Emphasis is placed on public performance and participation in the Spring Dance Showcase is required for students enrolled in spring semester.
No experience is necessary. Appropriate dance shoes required.
