All About the Lenten Project

This year’s Lenten Project is all about Care for God’s Creation. Green Team and the Spiritual Life Council have been working on hosting school wide activities for the community each week. For the second week of Lent we will be focusing on Recycling and Composting.

Action items you can participate in this week:

Recycling & Composting Survey

The Green Team is reaching out to encourage proper recycling and composting practices at home, as we have a new composting program at school. We have created a brief survey to understand the different practices at each household. We highly encourage readers to complete this short questionnaire.

If you feel as though your family would like more resources, a refresher, or detailed information on how to recycle, there is an option to request such help in the survey. Green Team is here to assist every person in our community to make strides towards sustainability.

Green Team co-produced this video about composting on-campus that played during announcements on March 6:

Recycle Batteries & E-Waste Material at Carondelet

Another way to get involved this week is through our specialized recycling competition. In fifth period classes we will be collecting batteries and e-waste materials. If you have any at home, now is a good time to send them with your daughter. Thank you for helping keep our community sustainable!

Learn about the Carondelet Garden

Lastly, our garden has begun to produce food for the Garaventa! Over the next few weeks, our herbs and vegetables will show up in salads and entrees at the cafeteria.

A special thanks to Mrs. and Mr. Mannoni from the Grandparents Association, who have recently offered their expertise to our team. Working towards sustainability is a long process, but we are making progress each week.
