As a close to our RISE Week, Katie Koestner, a renowned public speaker and activist, spoke to all students about consent and respect. In 1990, Katie was the first woman to publicly speak about being a victim of sexual assault on college campus. In our assembly Thursday she addressed sexual assault, respect and community, and healthy decision-making.

We hope our young women feel more empowered to speak up, have a standard for how people will treat them, and expect people to meet that standard. This can make for uncomfortable conversations, but they are critically important as we prepare students to be advocates for the world they want to live in.
