Eight Student-Athletes Sign NLIs in the fall of 2022

CONCORD, CA, Nov. 9, 2022—Carondelet High School announced that eight Cougar student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent today.

Maddie B. is continuing her soccer career at the University of California, Santa Barbara as a Gaucho. Maddie is a four year Varsity starter, EBAL honorable mention, EBAL second team, and four year scholar athlete. For the longest time Maddie has dreamed of going to the University of California, Santa Barbara. Not only does she love the coaches, team, and athletics program, but she also chose UCSB for the competitive academics and beach town of Santa Barbara. Go Gauchos!

Allie C. is continuing her basketball career at Northern Arizona University as a Lumberjack. Allie’s basketball honors include DFAL league MVP, DFAL first team all league, all Bay Area team, all Bay Area NCS team, all state team, NCS semi finalist, and team captain. The main reasons that Allie chose NAU is because of the great little town that surrounds the campus and how welcoming and supportive the coaching staff as well as the players have been to her. When going on her visit she felt as if she fit right in and that it was definitely the place where she belonged. Go Lumberjacks!

Stephanie I. chose Harvard University to continue her swimming career as a Crimson. Stephanie’s numerous honors include: 2021 and 2022 all league EBAL first team 200IM, 2020-21 all league EBAL first team 100 breast, 2020-21 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, 2021-22 USA Swimming All American (200IM, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay), 2022 NCS champion 200 IM, 2022 Carondelet HS swimming MVP, 2020-21 and 2021-22 CIF scholar athlete, 2022 CIF state 200IM 6th place, 2022 CIF state 100 fly 5th place, 2021 USA Swimming summer championships finalist, 2021 USA Swimming winter JR Nationals finalist, 2022 USA Swimming summer JR Nationals finalist, 2021-22 Pacific Swimming long course outstanding swimmer, and 2021-22 USA Swimming Scholastic All-America. Stephanie chose Harvard University because of the excellent academics and competitive swim program. Go Crimsons!

Lauren K. is continuing her soccer career at the University of Oregon as a Duck. Lauren’s honors include ECNL Northwest first team all conference back to back, Gothia World Cup Champions 2022, ECNL CSP Invitational event, PDP state team six years in a row, and Carondelet Varsity all four years. She is choosing to go to the University of Oregon because of how encouraging the college energy is, the strong academics, the competitive soccer environment, the coaches, and the beautiful campus and surrounding area. She is super excited to start her collegiate journey in Eugene. Go Ducks!

Jamie K. has chosen the University of the Pacific to continue her basketball career as a Tiger. Jamie is a two year team captain, four year Varsity player, and East Bay Athletic League honorable mention. Jamie is choosing the University of the Pacific because she immediately felt at home on her visit. The family atmosphere is exactly what she was looking for in a collegiate athletics program, and the location makes it easy for friends and family to come and watch her play! Attending the University of the Pacific lets Jamie stay in Californiaand from an academic standpoint, it’s the perfect fit for her! Go Tigers!

Sammie M. is continuing to play golf at Oklahoma State University as a Cowgirl. Sammie has been team captain this past senior season. She earned first team all league honors all four years during her high school golf career. She was the Rookie of the Year her freshman season, and MVP her junior season. She recently was ranked second at the EBAL tournament. Her team was third in NCS her senior year and made it to NorCals her freshman and senior year. Sammie chose Oklahoma State University because of the feeling she felt when in Stillwater. The school is “the golf school” and their facilities prove it. The people there made her feel very welcomed and she is most looking forward to growing her game on this team. Go Cowgirls!

Shelby S. is continuing her beach volleyball career at the University of California, Davis as an Aggie. Shelby was team captain of Carondelet’s volleyball team, honorable mention EBAL all league, and qualified for AUU and AVP Beach National in Hermosa Beach this summer. She placed 3rd at BVNE National in Santa Monica, and she is an AU scholar athlete and Carondelet scholar athlete. She picked UC Davis because of the great academics and the amazing beach volleyball program. She loves the school, the beach coach, and all the girls on the team have been super welcoming to her. Go Aggies!

Lizzie V. is continuing to play soccer at the University of California, Berkeley as a Bear. Lizzie has been team captain, EBAL second team freshman and sophomore years, EBAL first team junior year, offensive MVP freshman and sophomore years, CIF Champions, and NCS Champions. She chose Cal because of its elite soccer program and academics. It was always a dream of hers to play in the Pac-12 Conference. From the beginning, Lizzie has always felt very welcomed by the coaches and team and at home on the Berkeley campus! Go Bears!

Director of Athletics, Piper Brewster said, “Each of these student-athletes is a clear representation of the Carondelet core values of heart, faith, courage, and excellence. They set such a high standard for themselves in the weight room, the classroom, and on the playing surface and are an example of true leadership to their teammates. Each of them should leave here knowing that they left their mark on Carondelet Athletics, and we wish them the best of luck writing the next chapter of their story.”
