An Update from Athletics

Sports are starting back with new guidelines and safety measures.

Sports are starting, some after being pushed months, and students participating in athletics at Carondelet High School must be in compliance with all COVID-19 guidelines to be eligible.

As we look forward to rescheduling and starting seasons this year, the Athletics department is committed to keeping student athletes healthy by following all guidelines set by EBAL and the California Department of Public Health.

Tiered Sport System

EBAL has separated sports by tier based on COVID-19 cases in the community. This system dictates which seasons can start practice and competition:

Purple Tier

Cross Country, Swim & Dive, 2/1- 3/27
Golf, Tennis 2/8- 5/1
Track & Field 3/22- 5/15

Red Tier

Lacrosse, Softball 3/1- TBD

Orange Tier

Soccer, Volleyball, Water Polo - When allowed based on tier status

Yellow Tier

Basketball, Stunt (competitive cheer) - When allowed based on tier status

Season Updates

All students must be registered and cleared through athleticclearance.com, and physicals must be updated annually.

Per state guidance, athletes are restricted to participating in only one athletic cohort at a time. This also means athletes cannot play in an outside sport (e.g. club team) while playing at Carondelet.

Starting February 24, all in-season athletes and coaches will be required to get a COVID-19 test every two weeks for the safety of other student athletes and coaches. The school will host testing on: 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 03/31, 04/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19

Depending on their sport’s tier, athletes will have to submit a negative COVID-19 test result every 14 days.
