Junior Immersion

As part of our junior religion class, Symbols and Ethics, students learn about poverty and homelessness in the East Bay and Contra Costa County and study the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide us to evaluate the needs of the community and create systems of support and service. Each year, the Religion Department partners with Campus Ministry to provide an opportunity for juniors to spend time with our dear neighbors who are experiencing housing and food insecurity. Each Symbols and Ethics religion class will spend a school day at Monument Crisis Center with the hope that they may internalize more deeply our core belief in the innate dignity of every human person and our Christian call to advocate with and for others.
