Understanding How Colleges Assess Your Ability to Pay and Aid Eligibility: Insights and actions to prepare for the financial aid process and increase your eligibility presented by College Money Method

Recommended for 9th and 10th grade families. See the Weekly Updates for Zoom registration details.
Join this workshop to go behind the desk of the financial aid office and get an insider view of the rules and formulas for aid eligibility. You’ll take away actionable steps you may consider to increase your eligibility, with specific guidance for the FAFSA and CSS Profile.
Understanding how colleges determine what you pay – and what aid you’re eligible for – can be unclear and confusing. Families often make assumptions about their opportunities for financial aid without understanding how financial aid offices make these decisions.

Colleges use well-established rules and formulas in their evaluation. New eligibility rules for FAFSA create opportunities for many families. By learning how colleges make decisions earlier in high school, you can take action to position your student for better aid offers.

Some important questions this workshop addresses to help you to prepare are…

What income and assets do colleges count in calculating our ability to pay? What about home equity?

Carondelet is excited to continue our partnership with Paul Martin, founder of College Money Method, to increase support for our families in an important area of their journey to college—understanding what it means to pay for college today and the financial aid process. Paul brings expertise in the broader system of college financial support—both need-based and merit-based aid—so all families can meet their goals to pay for college.

Over the course of six live Zoom workshops, Paul breaks down the process for paying for college into the key information and actions families need to consider every year in high school. Each focused session builds on previous ones to provide cumulative, comprehensive guidance and preparation.

Carondelet families have access to The College Money Method Resource Center where they can find workshop recordings, video tutorials, and resources that are pertinent to each topic. Check the College Counseling Weekly Updates for the password.
