Letter from the Principal
July 20, 2016
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
I hope this summer has provided you with an opportunity to rest, relax and have fun.
Things have been busy on campus and there are several “surprises” that await your return!
Our Kinesiology and Geometry advancement summer classes are winding down as are our remediation courses, which allowed our students to master important material in preparation for the year ahead. This summer we also hosted 70 middle school students as part of our new middle school program, and we have plans to expand it for next year.
To ensure that everyone is prepared for the first day of school, we would like to share some timely reminders. Though we still have nearly a month of summer vacation left, I hope these reminders and tips will be useful as you plan for the beginning of the school year.
We look forward to meeting our incoming freshman families at the Frosh BBQ on Sunday, Aug. 14, and we can’t wait to see the rest of you on Orientation Day, Monday, Aug. 15.
Beginning of Year Information
Below are brief explanations and links to pertinent information for the upcoming school year. Please read this information over and access each link for full explanations. You can also access all of these links from the Parent portal of our website.
Please check PowerSchool throughout July for updated schedules which will include room numbers and teachers. We have made some adjustments for class size and staffing schedules. We will allow schedule changes the first two weeks of school (level changes the first three weeks of school). We will not be adjusting schedules for teacher request, however, if you have an individual issue, please see Mrs. Mix during the first two weeks of school. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Mix (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Dr. Chaponot (email@example.com).
You will receive information on creating PowerSchool accounts via mail the week of July 25. Your daughter will receive the access code you will need at her technology training. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Almonte firstname.lastname@example.org.

Remember, Sears at Sunvalley Mall allows students to try on sample uniforms to find the perfect fit. This runs to Sept. 15 and you will receive free shipping on any online orders placed at Sears’ in-store kiosk.
Carondelet students purchase their books and resources through our online bookstore. We have changed to a new textbook vendor, ClassBook. The online bookstore is now open. Junior and seniors who may have classes at DLS should check their schedule on PowerSchool prior to purchasing books, as some Carondelet and DLS classes have different textbooks. You can access the store here, which also contains guides and screencasts on using the bookstore and retrieving your digital books.
The first step in ordering from Classbook is creating an account for your daughter using her school email. Incoming freshmen should consult this guide for further instructions. By logging in with her account, your daughter will be able to see all books required for the courses that she has been registered for the 2016-2017 school year. All books listed under a course are part of the curriculum and required. Many times the required digital platform contains the ebook, and in those cases, the print book is an optional purchase. When you select your books, read all information carefully. Please pay special attention to the notes section.
A number of courses at Carondelet and De La Salle require digital learning platform/resources as part of the curriculum. They have been purchased in advance by the school. If a course fee is listed in the bookstore, it covers the cost of the digital platform/resource that the teacher has chosen for the curriculum. Please note: If not purchased through ClassBook, these fees will be added onto tuition with a handling fee.
We make every effort to keep costs as reasonable as possible. Do not hesitate to contact Joan Tracy at email@example.com should you need assistance or have questions.
Creating a School Bucks Account
Students interested in creating or updating their School Bucks account to purchase food through our lunch provider, Epicurean, can do so beginning Aug. 3. Please click here to read more about this offering. We will post the weekly lunch menus on the Cafe page as soon as they become available.
Parent Volunteer Opportunities (PIP)
All parents are required to complete 20 hours of volunteer service each year. These hours are tracked through an online program called CERVIS. To learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities and volunteer requirements, please click here.
Parents of freshmen are required to participate in the Carondelet's annual fundraiser, Visions of Christmas (VOC). To learn about how to earn PIP hours by fulfilling your VOC requirement, please click here.
2016-2017 Athletics Registration is now open! Please register your athlete by August 1 through SportsWare Online. Please note that the athletics department will be uploading all physicals in late July. Your athlete’s profile will likely read “cleared to play: False” until then.
