Water Polo Advances to NCS Finals after Defeating Alameda 8-4

Cougars to play Drake on Saturday in NCS Division II finals on Saturday

Walnut Creek, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2017) – The Carondelet varsity water polo team posted an 8-4 victory over the Alameda Hornets in the semifinals of the 2017 NCS/Les Schwab Tires Division II Girls' Water Polo Championship.

Carondelet (18-6) took an early lead in the game against Alameda (19-5) and never looked back. After getting first quarter goals by Kasey Madsen and Annika Zapata, the Cougars held a 2-0 lead after seven minutes. The Cougars outscored Alameda 2-1 in the second quarter to hold a 4-1 advantage at halftime. Both teams scored twice in the third quarter, before the Cougars outscored the Hornets 2-1 in the final quarter.

With the win over Alameda, the Cougars advance to the finals of the 2017 NCS/Les Schwab Tires Division II Girls' Water Polo Championship. In the championship game, No. 1 Carondelet will take on No. 2 Drake (22-6), which defeated Marin Catholic 18-7 on Wednesday. The game between Carondelet and Drake is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 11 at 5 pm at Northgate High School.

Ticket prices for the game are $10 for adults and $6 for students with a valid ID, seniors, and children 12 and under.
