Our annual club fair is next Monday, Sept. 18 during lunch and students will have an opportunity to learn more about what each of these clubs offer. One club that is particularly interested in recruiting new members is the De La Salle/Carondelet Robotics Club.
"It is important for girls to participate in STEM and robotics because those are very male-dominated fields," said club member Adriana Gavidia '18. "Girls need to take all the resources they can get when it comes to STEM. It is so important to have female representation in the hard science fields."
During the first semester of the school year, the DLS/CHS Robotics Club meets twice a week to train new members and work on small projects. In second semester, the Robotics team gears up for "build season" - a six-week period where the club meets every day to build a robot for the FIRST Robotics Competition at UC Davis.
Last spring, the team robot placed 9th overall out of about 60 teams! They made it to the semifinals, losing only by a few points. They're eager to recruit new members and possibly take the top spot this year!
Whether it's Robotics or Model UN, French or Social Justice, encourage your daughter to see how she can pursue her passion this school year!
