Letter from the Principal
July 26, 2017
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
I hope this summer has provided you with an opportunity to rest, relax and have fun with family, friends and loved ones.
As always, we have been busy preparing for another great year, which will include the unveiling of one of the most transformative facilities in Carondelet history - our state-of-the-art Carondelet Athletics Complex!
Our builders are hard at work creating a 6-acre complex that will give our girls a true home field advantage for the first time in over 50 years. We expect to open this beautiful new facility in November - please stay tuned for more details about our grand opening celebrations!
Here on campus, we have redesigned our library space and are adding furniture to the Inner Court to create more relaxed spaces that are accessible to students for study and collaboration with their teachers and classmates. We have also spent time this summer visiting schools throughout California and touring IBM’s Watson Innovation Center in San Francisco as we design exciting new STEM curriculum.
As our high school summer classes wind down, we celebrate our most successful summer program yet, which included middle school courses for students in English, math, and speech & debate, and a successful leadership camp for 4th- and 5th-grade girls.
It’s an exciting time as we continue to move full speed ahead creating as much opportunity for our amazing students as we prepare them for an ever-changing world, one where the empathy and compassion of our Catholic faith leads them to be positive agents of change in addressing the many needs we know they will encounter.
To ensure that everyone is prepared for the first day of school, we would like to share some timely reminders. I hope these reminders and tips will be useful as you plan for the beginning of the school year.
We look forward to meeting our incoming freshman families at the Welcome Frosh BBQ (please RSVP here) on Sunday, Aug. 13, and we can’t wait to see the rest of you on Orientation Day, Monday, Aug. 14.

New Bell Schedule
Carondelet and De La Salle have collaborated to create a new daily bell schedule that goes into effect at the start of this school year. The revised bell schedule will allow for greater flexibility and less class time interruption for modified scheduling needs, and provide more time for non-academic events built into the daily schedule. See and print the new Bell Schedule here.
Please make sure to review Carondelet’s updated uniform code with your daughter. To order uniforms through the Mills Uniform online store, click here. Or, you can shop in person at the Mills Uniform summer store through Sept. 19 at the Clayton Valley Shopping Center 5416 Ygnacio Valley Rd., Suite 40 in Concord.
Carondelet sophomores, juniors and seniors should purchase their books and resources through our online bookstore. The online bookstore is now open. Junior and seniors who have classes at De La Salle should check their schedule on PowerSchool prior to purchasing books, as some Carondelet and DLS classes have different textbooks. You can access the store here, and instructions on using the site here. Many times the required digital platform contains the ebook, and in those cases, the print book is an optional purchase. When you select your books, read all information carefully. Please pay special attention to the notes section.
A number of courses at Carondelet and De La Salle require digital learning platform/resources as part of the curriculum. They have been purchased in advance by the school. If a course fee is listed in the bookstore, it covers the cost of the required digital platform/resource that the teacher has chosen for the curriculum. Please note: If not purchased through Follett bookstore these fees will be added onto tuition with a handling fee.
We make every effort to keep costs as reasonable as possible. Do not hesitate to contact Joan Tracy at firstname.lastname@example.org should you need assistance or have questions.
